Today the price of Platinum has hit a two month high due to the violence that erupted at a South African Platinum mine last week. Platinum is trading around $1,490 and ounce which is at it’s highest point since June of this year.

Violence occurred at the Lonmin’s Marikana mine where miners were striking and clashing with fellow union workers as well as the local police authorities, over 40 people were killed. On Aug. 20, the London mining company announced an ultimatum to the over 3,000 workers and advised them that they were restarting operations and if the workers did not return to work they would be terminated.

Ziamond is a manufacturing jeweler of Platinum jewelry with cubic zirconia and we hope that the mining company as well as the miners reach an amicable resolution soon.
