Golf Ball Shot Knocks Diamond Out Of Ring

The golf world had an interesting story about golfer Sergio Garcia’s drive on the par-4 third hole at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday that involved his shot landing in the gallery and specifically striking a woman’s four prong diamond engagement ring.  The impact of the ball hitting the ring on the woman’s finger caused the center stone diamond to be temporarily lost and missing, in the rough of the golf course.  Luckily the diamond was eventually found, after a search by Garcia and the crowd.  This was joked about as possibly being the most expensive shot in golf, if the diamond was not recovered.

Watch the video in this post and you will notice that the ring had four prongs that secured the center stone. If the ring was a six prong solitaire would that have prevented the diamond from popping out? Hmm, we will never know, but better safe than sorry when it comes to a Tiffany style solitaire. Six prongs may be better than four. Thankfully the stone was found and a everyone involved will have a great story to tell for years to come.
